Time Doesn't Stop

TimeDoesntStop.jpg

Every time I walk into my kitchen I look up at this clock expecting to see what time it is.
But then I look back to the oven clock to see the real time.
So, for the past 7 months it's been 12:14:43

It's just a small reminder that time doesn't stop, but the things we create to tell time do.

Lesson 01 - Clear Direction

Clear Direction Is The Key To Getting Anything Done. Without It What Do You Expect?

I have 12 different layers in this design and 2 text layers. I used a few different textures, applying overlay, vivid light, and colorburn to some of the layers. Then I added black gradient-to-transparent around the edges.

Clear Direction

This applies to many different things. :)

Illustrating Face Logos From Images

nick-illustration.png

My friend Matt Barrett created this illustration from one of my pictures for his Posterous site.
He explains how he used Photoshop and Illustrator to create it. Check out how he did it.

Also, check out the design he did for Sara McGuyer.

Update: More Illustrated Face Logos

Thanks Matt, I dig it.

Best Practices For Effective Design Of “About me” Pages

After looking at my Google Analytics for my website I realized I'm in the "Minimalist" section of "Best Practices For Effective Design Of “About me”-Pages" on Smashing Magazine's website for my about page.
Thanks for the love. :)

I'm trying to figure out if I should redo my website or keep it minimalistic and update it with the same design style. Once I get it completely re-done I will post screenshots of how many different versions I made and why I wasn't satisfied with each design.
