New website - Jacobhundert.com

Just got done helping my roommate set up his website. I designed the website and added little elements of real film. The border of his site is actual film erosion, I altered it into a border and have it fading to white/gray. Overall, it's simple, straight to point, and I'm pleased with it.

Here are some images of the site during the design phase and the actual outcome.
You can find Jacob on twitter and here is his site.

It looks nice but what is "actual film erosion" ? Did you scan or photograph something for that?

Hey thanks :)

I should have called it decay, not erosion, close enough :)

The decay or erosion is caused by time, nothing lasts forever so the chemicals on top of the film base eventually dissolve. There are 3 major types of film base (nitrate, acetate, and polyester) - Nitrate being the oldest. And the emulsion (at least 2 different oily liquids/chemicals on top of the base) erode after time. The decay/erosion starts from the film strip borders and goes inwards towards the image.

These links below should help clarify what I mean:

"Lyrical Nitrate is a collage of found footage from a stockpile of old silent films that the director fashions into a kind of visual poem in tribute to moviemaking"

Thanks again :)
