It's a strong track. It has a very post modern classical feel because of the tempo and mood changes ( peeks & valleys ). But still retains a consistent theme. Keep producing the good tunes bro.

Hey thanks :)
I'm trying to go away from the typical standard of what we think a song should be. I tend to go for the more soundtrack/atmospheric/no vocals type creation of songs.

Jay, thanks, yeah I'm always down to collaborate. My email is nick@nicholaspatten.com

Nicholas,

Hi. I have a few thoughts... purely from a listener's standpoint... I think the music that's in the 3:00-3;45 minute range could be a turned into a whole track of it's own. If you took this section and stretched it out over 4-6 minutes, it's clear from this track that you could devise ways have additional elements come in and out, as well as add breaks, to "dress it up". Also, the last minute of this track is also something I would like to hear more of... a whole track's worth. And, again, while this would be the foundation of the song, you'd "dress" this track as well.

I'm a big fan of Boards of Canada, and something I really appreciate about their tracks is their ability to be "patient" (not sure if this is the best way to term it) with each track. They will allow the same loop to play out for 6+ minutes long, without any fear of repetitiveness. This becomes the foundation, the ambient background, from which they can add their experimentation... drifting other loops in and out, or layering them, etc.

I really liked the parts of this track... I just wish they each continued longer and were built upon individually. What I did not care for in your track is the complete break from one part to the next... it feels like someone has spliced an ablum of 4+tracks together to use as a sampler.

It's obvious you have an ear for creating strong, moving strings of music... and you're also able to take this parts and manipulate them. I get the sense that if you developed the parts further, own their own, you're finally tracks would be very special.

Anyway, I'm trying my best to be clear, but, I'm pretty sure I'm not making sense. I'll just stop writing...

Best,
Chad

Hey Chad,
Thanks for the input. I think you're right. When I get some time I will try to make the last part of the song a 4 min track and then the 3-3:45 min mark another track. I appreciate the great input. I mostly put this up so people can download and sample from it, but at the same time it can be used for underlying audio for an odd video that needs jump in audio to portray the video correctly. Thanks again for the kind words and clear description. I appreciate it.

If anyone else wants to do the same, download this track, sample it, create something new from it. Post it and link to it in these comments. It's all about sharing and collaboration. Take care.

There's a guy I know out here in LA, @remixaday that has a website based on the same idea. Open source music where everyone is remixing one-another's tracks www.remixin.com. Definitely worth checking out.

Very nice. I need to sit down and compose something myself again. I haven't been very creative of late...well, quite a while now.

Thanks, ya it's mostly a soundcollage. I'm going to create two separate songs from a few parts of this song/soundcollage. It's mostly for others to sample from and create something new.

@remixaday is a good guy to follow, links to a lot of new tracks daily.

Awesome! Creative, innovative and truly enjoyable. It's like someone took some of my favorite sounds from different bands and put them in a blender with lucite and made a beautiful window out of them. Keep up the good work.
